If you are planning to mark the declaration of war on 3rd Sept, could I propose my book as a possible story. My book is about the very first unit to go to France in 1939. Some were still making their way home after the fall of France in June 1940. It really was a case of 'first in - last out'. The book is entitled 'Ordinary Heroes - The extraordinary tale of 106 Army Troops Compant Royal Englineers'. It tells the tale of the Territorial soldiers from Doncaster who built the Flying Scotsman. It is an extraordinary story which revises the view of El Alamein and the foundation of the SAS. |
