Our Reader's Report

Have you ever wished that you could get an unbiased and professional opinion on your manuscript?

After the long slog of writing, do you feel you need a professional view of what you've written?
Do you think you might benefit from some editorial guidance from a sympathetic editor, to check that you're going in the right direction?
Has your work already been turned down?  It’s really frustrating to get your work rejected and sent back to you without knowing why, and whether or not there is anything you can do to improve its chances.
Publishers and agents receive an enormous number of unsolicited submissions direct from writers, but their lists are usually already full. This means that all too often they won’t even read your manuscript, let alone offer any comment.

If you’ve been caught up in this frustrating situation, our Reader’s Report may be just what you are looking for.

The Reader’s Report offers a short, clear and honest professional assessment of your work.
The reader will be a skilled professional with many years of experience in assessing book-length material for publication.
The Reader’s Report will offer informed comment on
the content,
the storyline (if appropriate),
the style and tone,
the likelihood that it will be taken on by a commercial publisher.
The reader will also indicate whether or not, in their opinion, further work on the manuscript will improve its chances of publication.
The Reader’s Report will give an honest assessment. WritersServices’ reputation rests on its editors’ professional approach to the job.

What it costs

The Reader’s Report on fiction costs £100 if your manuscript is under 100,000 words, £120 for 100,000 to 150,000 words and £145 for 150,000 to 200,000 words, payable in advance.

On non-fiction we charge £110 for under 100,000 words, £130 for between 100,000 and 150,000 words and £160 for 150,000 to 200,000 words.

We will have to quote individually on longer manuscripts. We would normally expect to email the Reader’s Report to you within two weeks of receipt of your order.

Please remember that we will need the word count of your manuscript, which your word processor will provide.

Please send your manuscript as one unzipped Word file, unless it is over 125,000 words, when we recommend splitting it into two files.
